Highlights: Archive/Counter-Archive 2019 Symposium
Check out the highlights and program from Archive/Counter-Archive's 2019 Symposium, held at the TIFF Bell Lightbox from December 12 - 14, 2019. The Symposium brought together over 70 participants from the A/CA network, as well as members of the public to free Keynote Presentations by Ross Lipman and Juana Suárez.
Archive/Counter-Archive and Library and Archives Canada (LAC) announce inaugural Artist Residencies
Archive/Counter-Archive and Library and Archives Canada (LAC) are delighted to announce the results of their inaugural artist residencies at LAC: Jennifer Dysart (fall 2019) and Nadine Valcin (winter 2020). The artists were selected from 53 outstanding submissions made during the one-month open call, which attracted applications from across Canada.

Summer Institute recap: Spotlight on Contemporary Indigenous Filmmaking
A/CA's closing Summer Institute event was a Spotlight on Contemporary Indigenous Filmmaking at York University, featuring a Curator Talk with A/CA collaborator Suzanne Morrissette (OCAD University), followed by a screening of seven short films by Indigenous filmmakers, and a Q&A with Morrissette and artist Lisa Myers. The evening concluded with a delicious potluck feast arranged by the Summer Institute students
Summer Institute recap: Matthias Müller
A/CA's Summer Institute featured a Master Class at York University with German experimental filmmaker Matthias Müller, as well as two programs at the TIFF Bell Lightbox featuring his found footage film works with long-time collaborator Christoph Girardet. The first program consisted of earlier collaborations, and was introduced by Scott Miller Berry. The second program featured more recent works, followed by an onstage conversation with Müller and Catherine Russell (Concordia University).
Saugeen Takes On Film Open House
Along with Philip Hoffman's Film Farm and The Fabulous Festival of Fringe Film, A/CA was honoured to co-present Saugeen Takes on Film's open house with special guest and A/CA Co-Applicant Camille Callison.
Summer Institute: Archive/Counter-Archives
Check out the Summer Institute 2019 schedule for Archives/Counter-Archives, led by Project Director Janine Marchessault, Executive Committee Chair Michael Zryd, and Collaborator Philip Hoffman.
Screenings, panels, and master classes will be held at the TIFF Bell Lightbox and York University, and will feature special guests Matthias Müller, Ali Kazimi, Yvonne Ng, and Suzanne Morrisette.
