Janine Marchessault, CBC Ideas, Nov 2024 (Killam Prize)

In March 2024, Archive/Counter-Archive (A/CA) PI Janine Marchessault (York University) was awarded the 2024 Killam Prize in Humanities. In late November, Janine was featured on CBC Ideas with Nahlah Ayed to discuss her scholarly work. During the episode, she delved into her ongoing research on Canada’s media histories and counterarchives, and shared insights into A/CA’s ongoing critical work to activate and remediate audiovisual archives most at risk of disappearing, its methodology of bringing artists into archives, and its commitment to addressing the crisis of archiving and preserving Canada’s audiovisual heritage.
