Welcome (Back) to Archive/Counter-Archive and another academic year!

Join us on Tuesday, September 19th at 5:30pm in the Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Building (Room 2001) at York University for the Archive/Counter-Archive 2023 Fall Graduate Student Mixer!

Archive/Counter-Archive: Activating Canada's Moving Image Heritage is a seven-year research-creation project and network focusing on works by Indigenous Peoples (First Nations, Métis, Inuit), the Black community and People of Colour, women, LGBT2Q+ and immigrant communities. Led by Janine Marchessault and funded by a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Partnership Grant, the partnership is composed of four universities (York, Ryerson, Queen's, and Concordia), numerous communities, memory institutions, and policy advocates. Our research is committed to finding solutions for safekeeping Canada's audiovisual heritage. We seek to activate and remediate audiovisual heritage that is most vulnerable to disappearance and inaccessibility, fostering a community and network dedicated to creating best practices and cultural policies.

Our Student Researchers network spans across Canada and multiple disciplines! If you're interested in joining the network, please attend our Graduate Student Mixer on September 19th at 5:30pm. During the event, we'll review opportunities for students, share details of upcoming A/CA activities and events, and end with some time to chat with the management committee and fellow students. Drinks and snacks will be provided.

For more information and to RSVP, contact the A/CA Research Assistant, Emily Collins: emecoll@yorku.ca.

Virtual Mixer Event

If you can’t make the in-person event, we’re hosting an online version for Student Researchers across the network on Friday, September 22, at 4:30pm EST. Email Emily to receive the Zoom link.

We hope to see you there!
